Like all new years, 2013 started off with excitement and rejuvenation. I was in my groove! Writing my book. Setting up my platform. Learning to brand myself. Talk about a Holy Ghost roll! I was having a fun ride … then bumps, ditches, distractions. What was this? Whoa … this was supposed to be a smooth path to publishing. Now, I feel like I am bouncing around seemingly out of control. My writing is suffering, and I fear my goals are slipping. Ever feel like that?
Welcome to the last two weeks of my life! It seems if it could go wrong, it did.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 KJV
I had just received back the peer review on my manuscript. I was ready to dig into the comments and improve my book.

But before that, I decided to start cooking and cleaning, and somehow managed to cut across two of my fingertips. Since it is difficult to type with bulky bandages, I decided to give it rest and heal up. I prayed for a quick speedy recovery so I could type. Within 24 hours the bandages were off.
… they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:18 KJV
Then, a couple days later I got a call back from my doctor. Uh oh! Not a good report. “Abnormal cells.” Immediately, my mind goes racing, but I resist fear and reach out in faith with others to agree in prayer with me that those abnormal cells will become normal before I had to go back for testing. Don’t you know the battle in my mind was warring! I went back for testing, and the cells were normal!
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. Job 22:28 KJV
Another four days go by and suddenly I am having symptoms of sore throat, coughing, congestion, sinus pressure, and fatigue. At this point, I was ready to physically fight. After a round of antibiotics and cough syrup and thanking God for healing me, I am starting to get my strength back.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 KJV
To me all of these events were setbacks to my writing. If my fingers are bleeding, I cannot type. If mind is worried, I cannot focus. If my body is sick, then I cannot perform at my best.
But the answer to each of these setbacks was and is and will always be the name of Jesus!
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Philippians 2:10 KJV
If something is preventing you from writing, whether it is a natural reason or spiritual reason, just know your first answer should be the name of Jesus. He will work on your behalf!
