Battling Book Writing Duldrums
Lately, the skies have been greyer and the weather has been colder. For some people the weather does not affect their mood, but I am not one of those people. Hence, I am sunshine junkie, which is why I left Ohio and moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2007.
Usually, when the outside weather gets icky, you can make a more delightful atmosphere inside. Now that I am in Oklahoma I look at pictures of sunshine. But what do you do when the atmosphere of your soul turns dreary and discouraged?
Life has ups and downs. The ups are exhilarating and fun, but those downs … man … those downs make me want to just crawl further inside and hide. As an author, my book writing suffers as a result of life’s discouragements. So, I have to plunge out of the downs of life by speaking myself back up.
This week I came across an encouraging blog post by author Rachel Wojnarowski. She said, “When I need the strength to keep going, the best place I know to turn is God’s Word.” High-five Rachel, I so agree!
The Bible is the answer to every situation and facet of life! We Christian authors can even apply it to our book writing! Praise God!
Rachel listed some great verses and below I have given some verses as well. For some of them I have directly applied it to writing and personalized using first person terms. Be encouraged, because God cares about your book writing! Please share scriptures that speak to your heart in the comments.

Most important, you must know that no prophecy of scripture represents the prophet’s own understanding of things, because no prophecy ever came by human will. Instead, I an author am led by the Holy Spirit to write my book idea from God.
