Truth: You can start promoting your book before you write it and while you write it. Previously I wrote 5 No-Cost Strategies to Build Book Buzz TODAY based on proven social media strategies and personal branding techniques from PR Coach Pam Perry.
This year Coach Pam Perry launched Branding Superstar University and I have been attending the sessions and getting great advice on how to build book buzz. I highly encourage aspiring authors and emerging writers to attend these sessions. I can help you say it right, write now, but these guys will help you sell it right.
Here are 3 more book buzzing tips based on what I have learned from Coach Pam and other author platform experts, such as Michael Hyatt.
- Buzz your book in your email signature and voicemail. Think about how many emails you send a day. What about the number of phone calls you don’t answer? Mentioning your book in the signature or on your voicemail is an instant buzz to the person on the other end. Plus, it provides accountability for you, because that person who sees your signature or here’s your voicemail may next time ask, “So how is the book coming along?”
- Join Goodreads. This book review site continues to see increasing numbers in membership and book reviews. Best selling author Jonathan Gunson puts it like this in his article, “The bottom line is that if you don’t have a Goodreads account with your book listed yet, open one today. It is becoming an important way to make your book visible in the crowded online marketplace.”
- Write book reviews for other authors. I had not considered writing book reviews until I came across romance author Kathy Logan’s blog post, “How To Write a Book Review on Amazon.” Most authors like to receive feedback on their work, and reviews help boost books on Amazon. So you are asking what does this have to do with buzzing my book? Well, as Christians we are told to do unto others as we want others to do unto us or as some may know it as the law of sowing and reaping. Sow a review; reap a review.
Definitely check out the authors and platform experts mentioned above. Their been-there-and-done-it advice is valuable toward promoting your book before its published. Your book is worth it!
